The rooms are clean and spacious. The room has a wood fire burning fireplace. Beautiful quiet grounds with water features and fountains everywhere. There os a complimentary breakfast in the morning with everything from omelets and ma-mosas to biscuits and gravy. It is also located right by a bunch of shopping and local restaurants including The French Laundry and boutique wine shops.

We had a great time on the Wine train. The process of arrival and boarding was organized and informative. The train itself is a great example of engineering and luxury. It really takes you back to a time when the main form of transit was by rail. Once you board couples are sat with 4 to a table. Cross your fingers you get a “good table” because you will be with your new traveling companions for over an hour. Also note: the seats are smaller than economy seats on a puddle jumper airplane so hopefully you are not claustrophobic. Depending on what package is purchased you will be served food, that was surprisingly good-may we suggest the white bean and truffle soup and the half chicken. Wine can be purchased for an additional fee. After lunch and taking in all of the scenic views you are taken to a dessert car to enjoy coffee and a choice of dessert. From there we deviated and took a coach bus to Castillo di amorosa.

This winery is based off medieval castles in Europe. It has somewhat of a “this doesn’t feel like America” feel. It had a little bit of a Disney world ambiance, or a feeling of being an adult like tourist trap but it was a unique experience and the wine was pretty good. We ended up buying some bottles to be shipped to Chicago, and once here they didn’t last long. Our favorite was the zinfandel.
