A few days in Napa Valley.

From Lou & Bridget’s original journal, published November 2016. Travel dates to confirm.

A walk through a vineyard in Napa Valley

We stayed at the Vintage Inn in Yountville, took the Napa Valley Wine Train, and visited Castello di Amorosa.

What stayed with us

“We ended up buying some bottles to be shipped to Chicago, and once here they didn’t last long.”

Where we stayed

The Vintage Inn

Our original rating: 4/5 🍻

We liked the spacious rooms, wood-burning fireplace, and quiet grounds with fountains and water features. The location put us close to Yountville’s restaurants and shops.

What we did

Napa Valley Wine Train

Our original rating: 3/5 🍻

We enjoyed the scenery and were pleasantly surprised by the food, especially the white bean and truffle soup and half chicken. The seats felt tight, and couples shared tables with other travelers. Those are details we would tell friends before booking.

Castello di Amorosa

Our original rating: 3/5 🍻

The castle was a unique experience, though it felt touristy to us. We thought the wine was good and shipped bottles home. Our favorite was the zinfandel.
